The cure lies in the dark
Author's Statement
"Every old artist has the right to one more painting."
This film explores the awakening of past-life memories that ignites love between two completely different people, separated by distance, years, disappointments, and tragedies. It is precisely in times of despair that we recognize true values.
Unconditional Love is born from pain and disillusionment, in the awareness of lived years, under conditions where age, illness, and lifestyle leave no room for youthful hopes.
THE STORY
Our romantic drama with mystical thriller elements follows aging actor and businessman Michel Morel, who discovers an ancient artifact at auction. Instantly transported to the 14th century, he sees himself as young knight Philippe, remembering his beloved Marguerite who died with him 700 years ago. Awakening to find himself suspected of murder and theft, Michel's life becomes consumed by the most terrifying and beautiful love story he desperately tries to resist.
COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
My philosophy centers on creating an environment where every participant feels valued and inspired. I believe actors must not only understand but truly embrace the vision to deliver authentic performances. My approach is deeply collaborative - I maintain constant presence on set to ensure seamless adaptation when dialogue or blocking needs adjustment for individual performers.
Each actor brings unique interpretative gifts, and I'm committed to adjusting any line or scene staging to honor their creative process. This flexibility isn't compromise - it's recognition that the best performances emerge when artists feel completely supported and creatively free. My bespoke approach to each cast member ensures maximum comfort while maintaining the story's emotional integrity.
VISUAL PHILOSOPHY
The film's aesthetic divides into two distinct visual universes, each serving the dramaturgy:The film's aesthetic divides into two distinct visual universes, each serving the dramaturgy:
The Historical Block
pulses with life - filled with golden light of love, bright medieval colors, and the visceral reality our heroes remember across centuries. Here lives their true existence: first kisses, embraces under threat of death, love made more acute by constant danger.
The Contemporary Block
exists in twilight - blue and pastel tones of "autumn in Middle-earth." Our heroes don't truly live here; they merely await life while remembering their bright, tragic past. This is the fragile space of emerging love, the quiet hour before dawn, filled with premonition and dreams.
THEMATIC VISION
As both screenwriter and visual artist, I specialize in creating worlds where the boundary between reality and magic dissolves. My previous historical works, including award-winning "Day of the Sword" (Golden Knight Festival 1995), established my expertise in temporal narratives - colleagues have called me "the time-travel specialist" for thirty years.
This project will comfort the lonely and support the happy, showing that at any age, in any place, happiness will find you if you believe and listen to your heart. In a world ruled by love, no boundaries exist - political, geographical, social, or age-related. All are mere illusions.
INTERNATIONAL VISION
With Christophe Lambert attached as Michel Morel, we're creating a European co-production primarily in French, filming in France and Italy. The story's universal themes of rediscovered love and second chances will resonate across cultures, while the medieval sequences provide spectacular visual opportunities without prohibitive costs.
This is more than entertainment - it's a beacon for our times, when people desperately seek connection and hope. The eternal struggle between Light and Darkness unfolds not on battlefields, but within each human soul.
